Methodology
Transparency about how content is created is fundamental to building trust, especially for content related to emotional and mental health. Here is how FeelingGuide's content is developed and maintained.
Content generation
FeelingGuide's content is synthesized from established psychological literature and emotional intelligence research using AI language models. Each of the 900+ emotion entries covers 25 distinct content fields, providing comprehensive coverage of definitions, characteristics, psychological perspectives, symptoms, causes, impacts, and growth opportunities.
We use structured output generation to ensure consistency across all entries. This means every emotion is explored through the same set of lenses, making it easy to compare and contrast different emotional experiences.
Quality validation
All generated content passes through an automated validation pipeline that checks for completeness, content length adequacy, language appropriateness, and consistency. Specifically, the validation process:
- Verifies all 25 fields are present and substantive
- Checks for prescriptive or diagnostic language
- Ensures third-person educational tone throughout
- Validates relationships between emotions
- Assigns a quality score — only content scoring above threshold is published
What this is not
FeelingGuide does not claim to be written by psychologists or mental health professionals. It is not peer-reviewed clinical content. The content synthesizes publicly available psychological knowledge into accessible educational material. For clinical guidance, readers should consult qualified mental health professionals.
Sources and references
The content draws from established frameworks in psychology and emotional intelligence research, including work from the American Psychological Association (APA), the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), and widely recognized models of emotion classification.
Updates and corrections
Content is reviewed periodically and updated as needed. Each emotion page displays its last updated date. If you notice inaccuracies or have suggestions, we welcome feedback.
